Black and Huber's Sony Ericsson WTA Tour doubles bio
To the surprise of no one, Cara Black and Liezel Huber have had another superb Sony Ericsson WTA Tour season together. They got off to a bit of a rough start by their standards, losing in the quarters of Brisbane, semis of Sydney and quarters of the Australian Open before finally picking up their first title of 2009 at Paris [Indoors] in February and their second the very next week in Dubai.
Black and Huber had a mini-slump after that, losing early at several events, including Indian Wells and Miami, before getting back on track with their third title of the year in Madrid. They followed that by losing in the semis of Roland Garros, winning Eastbourne and falling in the semis of Wimbledon.
Black and Huber's summer hardcourt swing included their fifth title of the season in Cincinnati, a semifinal appearance in Toronto, a runner-up showing at the US Open - during which they were announced as the first team to qualify for Doha - and a semifinal showing in Tokyo.

Black and Huber have been co-ranked No.1 in the world since November 2007, with Black having spent the second most weeks all-time at No.1 in doubles, and Huber having spent the sixth most. Among their 27 career titles together are four Grand Slams and the 2007 and 2008 Tour Championships.
"It's been a great season for us," Huber said. "We're proud to have won five titles this year and look forward to going to the Sony Ericsson Championships next month to compete with the best players in the world and defend our Championships crown. I've been looking at photographs of us winning the Championships the last two years and Cara and I are hoping to relive the incredible memories this year."
